Scholarship Information

    In 1998 the APOL established a Musical Scholarship Fund. Each Spring and Fall a committee selects a qualified college music student to receive an unrestricted cash award.

The following individual has been chosen as the recipient of our Fall 2015 APOL Musical Scholarship Fund:

Jennifer "Jenna" DeVries: Jenna is a senior at York High School in Elmhurst and comes highly recommended by her band director Bill Riddle. She performs on saxophone, piano and vocal music.  She received the first of two possible APOL $500 scholarship awards at the regular monthly meeting of the association June 17 and plans to begin attending the U of I in Champaign, Urbana this fall.

She began studying piano 12 years ago, has studied saxophone locally for two years, sung in the Glen Ellyn children's chorus for 6 years and the York High School Chamber Choir for 3 years.  She has played alto and baritone saxophones in the school's jazz band for 1 1/2 years and studied applied music theory.

Jenna played in the school's  marching band, was its drum major for 1 year and section leader in the school's Symphonic Band. In addition she was co-president of the school's British Cultural Club.

Her CD musical excerpts included a movement of the Glazunov Concerto for Alto Saxophone, an original duet for alto and tenor saxophone, a musical excerpt from the film Catch Me If You Can and the concert piece Vesuvius featuring the alto saxophone.

Jenna DeVries also received a $500 award in the Spring of 2015.
